The purpose of the hub centric part of the wheel is to center it on the disc, the lug bolts prevent the wheel from coming off the hub (thus taking the load). Actually..the hubs are designed to carry the load of the vehicle. The lugs are meant to hold the load horizontally. Its a key feature to have a hub centric wheel.
So if the original cars hub bolt pattern is factory machined 5x100 & you want wheels that have a 5x112 bolt pattern then you would buy 5x100 -to- 5x112 adaptors, & vice versa -. If you have a car that is 5x112 at the hub as standard but you want 5x100 wheels (like the original post^) then you would buy 5x112 -to- 5x100 adapters, like these
Re: converting a MKiv from 5x100-to-5x112 is it possible? (igotaprestent4u) the offsets would be too low for the look im going for amallest adapters made are 20mm putting the front at et16 and the rear at 22 to much damn poke and i dont wat to deal with more than a slight roll/pull on the fenders
